SIRIO SCO-868-4-NF-50

Getting the most out of any device that uses radiofrequency is essential. This is especially relevant in the case of the HELIUM MINING HOTSPOT (HNT). It is important to have a good device, but it is also essential to have a good antenna and a quality cable to connect the HOTSPOT to the antenna. A good device, even the best on the market, working with the small antenna that comes with the equipment, has a much lower performance than another simpler miner but that is connected to a high-performance external antenna (or antenna gain).

It is pure physics. When we talk about radio frequency antennas. Assuming that it is a quality antenna. The longer the antenna, the greater the distance it will cover and therefore the better the performance. Any Hotspot that uses an external antenna will have a greater range and therefore better performance, so it will be more efficient in mining than another that uses the reduced and inefficient antenna that is supplied with the equipment.

Making a quick summary:

How can I cover a greater distance to get the most out of my HELIUM HOTSPOT? Remove the small antenna that came with the kit and install an outside antenna.

What external antenna do I put? An antenna of the so-called: OMNIDIRECTIONAL, also called vertical antennas like this SIRIO model SCO-868-4-NF-50. The fact of being of the OMNIDIRECTIONAL type means that this class of antennas have the capacity to emit and receive in 360º, that is, in and from all directions. No matter where the signal comes from, it will be picked up by the antenna. As in reception, this antenna emits in the same way: in all directions in 360º. Panel or directive type antennas are not recommended, since they only work in a specific direction, rejecting everything that does not fit into their working angle, which in many cases is usually too narrow and with that your miner would lose a lot of performance.

And how much should my antenna measure? As we said above, it is a very simple matter of physics. The longer the antenna, the better the performance.

How to install the antenna and where? Undoubtedly outside the house, the ideal would be in a high and clear area in 360º, on a mast, the higher the better! Obviously it depends on the type of housing. You will have it easier if you live in a house than if you live on the floor of a building. If you cannot install your antenna in the highest part of the building, you will have to place it in a window or on a balcony or terrace, but always as far outside as possible to obtain the best performance from your HOTSPOT. To connect the antenna to the HOTSPOT, you have to use an adapted cable with the connectors used by the mining equipment and the antenna, which are usually different. Very important!!!: The cable must be of high quality. A good equipment, linked to a good antenna by means of a poor quality cable, will lose a lot of performance due to the cable or the connectors and with this the system will lose all its grace. Make sure that the length of the cable from the HOTSPOT to the antenna is as short as possible. The longer the cable you have, the greater the signal loss and therefore your miner will be losing performance. It is more efficient to use a 15 meter long cable, if the antenna is installed outside in a clear and high area, than to use a cable of only 3 meters but with the antenna installed in a window or on a balcony.

And what connectors and cable should I use to connect the antenna to my HOTSPOT? Very easy!!, we have them made and ready. We have cables of different sizes with their respective connectors already assembled.

The summary is that the whole set must be correlated: use good equipment (a good miner), with a valid quality outdoor antenna to work with the HOTSPOT (the longest possible antenna), a quality cable with also quality connectors. The installation of the antenna as high and clear as possible and finally ensures that the cable length is the minimum possible between the antenna and the HOTSPOT. If you do all this, your miner will work with the best and most optimal tools.
