The VSC opens the squelch only when a modulated signal is detected and ignores unmodulated beat noises. It is a characteristic for those listeners in search of conversations, music or news avoiding the data frames or radio beacons. Multiple power options
The Icom IC-R6 can be powered by Ni-MH batteries, or alkaline batteries. Use the Icom IC-R6 with the BC-196S AC adapter or optionally with the CP-18 cigarette lighter cable.
When the BC-194 desktop charger is used with the AC adapter or cigarette lighter cable, you can easily charge Ni-MH batteries, while eliminating the need for
